President’s Corner: Deborah Raynes
The grass is turning green, the flowers are beginning to peak out of the cold ground, the sun is shining and the birds are singing. These are all signs of a new season about to burst forth! No matter what position we hold in our organization, we can begin a new season, too. And . . . VaSHHRA’s here to help. Our Spring Conference theme is Personal Leadership: Reaching for Excellence. Teresa has searched diligently for just the right speakers to provide us with information to help us perform our jobs more effectively. We will meet in Virginia Beach in May and even though we have some intense sessions planned, we’ve left time for networking and fun. If you haven’t already submitted your reservation, do it now!

Virginia
VaSHHRA Salary Survey Update
The VaSHHRA Board of Directors is in the process of redesigning the salary survey with the goal of improving the design and increasing member participation. A member survey was sent out to get recommendations on how the survey could be improved. We appreciate your responses and hopefully will be able to incorporate your suggestions into the redesign.
As you are aware, the methodology used to compile the data was changed with the Fall 2006 survey. In keeping with antitrust regulations, results were not reported unless there were at least 5 responses for each position in each region. This significantly impacted regional data but statewide salary data for positions was reported.
With the change in survey methodology and our efforts to redesign the survey and increase participation, the Board of Directors has decided not to sponsor a Spring 2007 salary survey. We are going to take this opportunity to revamp the survey with the hopes of increasing survey participation. The Fall 2006 survey is still available for purchase through AON.
